Terms of use

Last updated: August 13, 2026

These are the terms for using uttrd, written in plain English. Where a term works in your favor, we say so directly instead of burying it in legal language.

Your audio is yours

Audio you generate with uttrd belongs to you. That right is perpetual and irrevocable: it does not expire, and uttrd cannot take it back. There are no royalties and no separate commercial license to buy.

This explicitly covers monetized YouTube videos, podcasts, client work, advertising, and audiobooks. Yours to keep and use, in other words, however you like.

Files you have downloaded stay yours regardless of what happens to your account or to uttrd as a service. If you stop using uttrd, or if uttrd ever shuts down, audio you already have does not become invalid.

You must be 18 or older

uttrd is for users aged 18 and over. This is a hard requirement passed down from the AI providers uttrd runs on, not a preference we could relax. If you are under 18, please do not use uttrd.

What you can't do

  • Impersonate a real person, or generate a voice intended to be mistaken for a specific individual
  • Present uttrd audio as a human recording where that would deceive someone
  • Generate unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or deceptive content
  • Attempt to bypass rate limits or automate abuse of the service

You are solely responsible for the text you submit and for how the generated audio is used, including by anyone you share it with. uttrd is not responsible or liable for misuse of the service.

Fair use limits

There is a rate cap to prevent automated abuse. Normal use will not reach it. uttrd may rate-limit, suspend, or block accounts or traffic that abuse the service.

Service is provided as-is

uttrd does not guarantee uptime, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. uttrd is not liable for losses arising from downtime, errors, or unavailability. Features may change over time.

None of this affects your ownership of audio you have already generated. That stays yours regardless of changes to the service.

Your data

If you join the mailing list, or sign in with Google, uttrd stores your email address. Signing in with Google also adds your email to uttrd's mailing list automatically. It is not a separate step you opt into later.

If you sign in, your saved takes (the generated audio and its details) are stored so they follow you across devices. Without signing in, nothing about your generations is saved on our end.

A shared take link is publicly accessible to anyone who has the URL. It is not private, and anyone with the link can play it without signing in.

uttrd runs on paid, billing-enabled accounts with its AI providers. That means text you submit is not used to train the underlying AI models. Providers do retain prompts and responses briefly for abuse detection and legal compliance, which is worth stating honestly rather than claiming nothing is ever stored.

Changes to these terms

uttrd may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use uttrd after a change means you accept the updated terms.
